Clear Water Barn

A grand and stylishly converted barn full of light and space.

Clear Water Barn is a spectacular place to stay. Previous visitors have commented that staying in the barn ‘feels opulent’.

There’s plenty of room for five or six people to enjoy themselves – it’s a genuinely family-friendly building. This makes it ideal for family holidays and get-togethers. Clear Water Barn is popular for holidays and breaks all year round.

Our restoration has created a space that has all the modern conveniences we’ve come to depend on whilst retaining the character and charm of the original building.

The goal was to create an open plan layout that felt spacious and cosy at the same time. The lounge has a large wood burning stove to warm those feet after the day’s adventures and wifi is available throughout the property.

The dining area is in the central area of Clear Water Barn and is the heart of the building. The large windows allow superb views over the gardens of Cwmcroiddur to one side, and the mountains and woodland to the other.
There’s a modern kitchen, a substantial dining table and plenty of chairs. Guests who rent both the Barn and the Cottage are easily able to eat together in Clear Water Barn. Eight spotlights provide subtle, high quality lighting.

With an island unit, solid beech work surfaces, modern electric hob and oven and ceramic sink, you can enjoy cooking without being cut off from everyone else.
There’s a dishwasher, fridge and microwave as well as all the pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and ice-cream scoops you’re likely to need.

The lounge area feels both cosy and grand with the ceiling and roof beams thirty feet overhead, and a large window overlooking the land as it falls towards the Croiddur  stream. The LCD widescreen TV has FreeSat and a DVD player. A large wood-burning stove (we don’t charge for logs) provides both heat and entertainment for the fire-raisers in your party!
With three of Clear Water Barn’s signature arrow-slit windows, this is the perfect place to read, write or simply chat. There’s a shelf of books, a collection of DVDs, CDs and board games.

The Barn has three bedrooms, all at the opposite end to the Lounge. The twin and single rooms are on the ground floor, the double bedroom upstairs. There’s a folding bed available for an additional person. Duvets, bed linen, two pillows per person and towels are provided.

All the rooms are light and airy and simply decorated. Each bedroom has a hand-built vanity unit with washbasin, shelves, mirror and light. Beside each bed is a bedside cabinet with reading light. There’s ample wardrobe space.

The bathroom is on the first floor next to the double bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, a washbasin with large mirror with lighting and the toilet. The hot water is supplied by the central heating system and, when the sun is shining, it’s heated using solar panels on the roof.

Clear Water Barn has a very efficient oil-fired central heating system to provide background heat. This is timed to be on in the morning and evening, with a ‘boost’ button for heat at other times. The boiler is outside the Barn to minimise noise. There’s a large Villager wood-burning stove in the Lounge area which can heat the whole building in a surprisingly short time. We provide a good supply of firewood for your arrival and more logs are available free of charge.

Clear Water Barn has a large timber balcony in a private spot overlooking the Nant Croiddur stream and the Black Mountain beyond. The balcony, with its picnic furniture  is down a couple of steps from the entrance to the Barn. There’s also a large lawn behind the Barn and a path through a small birch wood up onto Mynydd Mallaen.
